I can’t stand those ‘how to look like a kpop idol’ creators on social media
I remember first seeing them when I got into kpop around age 13. I thought that there was no way I could ever compare to an idol and these ‘hacks’ and ‘tips’ about how you can improve your appearance felt like a drug to me. Fast forward around 7 years later and now I have chronic issues with dissatisfaction around my appearance, because I feel like no matter how good I look, I can always take it one step further.
I was upset today because I saw one of these creators when I was scrolling on instagram and honestly I hoped this was an era we had left behind. It made me really disappointed to see that people are still posting this mass produced crap. In my opinion, it just feels wrong to CREATE and then exploit people’s insecurities just to boost your own engagement, especially when many kpop fans are so young like I was. Like no you don’t need to debloat your face or fix your chin, idols are idols and we should just leave them to their career.
