I've always found Sicura to be one of the most underrated names in Swiss watchmaking history.

Most people only know the brand because of its connection to Breitling. During the Quartz Crisis, Ernest Schneider, owner of Sicura, acquired Breitling and played a key role in keeping the brand alive. But Sicura itself had already built a reputation for producing some truly unconventional watches throughout the 1960s and 70s.

One of the most interesting examples was the Diver 400 from 1968.

Instead of following the typical Submariner-inspired formula, Sicura created something completely different: a hexagonal case, dual crowns, an internal rotating chapter ring and a very distinctive industrial design that immediately stood out.

Now, almost six decades later, Sicura has officially returned with the HEXA 400.

What I appreciate is that they didn't simply recreate the vintage watch. Instead, they redesigned it as if the original Diver 400 had continued evolving all these years.

The new model features:

\- 40 mm stainless steel case
\- Sellita SW200 automatic movement
\- 400 m water resistance
\- Ceramic bezel
\- Sapphire crystal
\- Modern bracelet with micro-adjust clasp

The overall silhouette is unmistakably Sicura, but almost every component has been updated for modern use.

As someone who works in watchmaking, I actually like this approach more than many modern "heritage" releases. It feels less like a reproduction and more like a continuation of the original idea.

I'm curious what you think.

Would you rather see brands make faithful vintage reissues, or do you prefer this kind of modern reinterpretation?
