HDFC has genuinely the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. Even SBI is better than them

Debit Card / Bank A/C

I've banked with SBI, Punjab National Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IDFC FIRST Bank, and HDFC Bank.

I never thought I'd say this, but HDFC has by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced

Im not even exaggerating. I've been trying to get my dormant account reactivated. I visited my home branch, completed all the required formalities, and was told it'd take about a week.

A week passed. Nothing happens.

So I emailed customer support asking for an update.

Every single email I send gets what feels like a completely generic copy paste response. It's honestly as if nobody is even actually fucking reading my emails

THREE responses told me the issue had already been explained. It hadn't.

Then another response told me to visit the branch because my account has a "983 Digital Service Restriction"

I've ALREADY visited the fucking branch.

That is literally the whole reason I contacted customer support in the first place. I've replied multiple times saying exactly that

And what do they do? Send another generic email telling me to visit the branch

At this point Im convinced nobody is actually reading anything. It honestly feels like they're just clicking a template and pressing Send. It's like im talking to a fucking wall.

Even if they just used AI to summarize incoming emails, they'd probably provide better support than whatever the fuck process they're currently using.

It's honestly insane.

This is supposed to be the largest private bank in India, yet the customer support feels worse than even PSU banks.

Even SBI has better customer service than whatever this is.

At least when I've dealt with SBI, I eventually felt like someone understood what I was actually asking

With HDFC, it feels like Im talking to a wall

The branch experience itself was also... weird, maybe it's just the particular branch Im dealing with, idk.

But whenever I've visited a bank before whether it's SBI, Kotak, PNB, or any other bank, after submitting a request I usually receive some kind of acknowledgement. Maybe an SMS. Maybe an email. Maybe a reference number. Something that confirms my request has actually been processed.

With HDFC? I got Nothing. No SMS. No email. Nothing.

At this point I honestly dont even know whether my request was actually submitted at the branch or not.

I genuinely have no idea because I was given absolutely nothing to confirm that the request had even been registered.

And now customer support just keeps telling me to visit the branch again.

I'll probably have to go again because apparently that's the only answer they know how to give.

The most frustrating part is that I've explicitly written in MULTIPLE emails that I've already visited the branch.

It's not like Im hiding that information. It's literally the central point of every email I've sent.

Yet every reply completely ignores it and tells me to just visit the branch

It genuinely feels like they aren't reading my emails at all.

Ironically, just a few days ago I saw a post on this subreddit praising IDFC FIRST Bank.

I actually opened an IDFC FIRST account three days ago, and the experience has been fantastic so far.

I dont even have some premium account. It's just their ₹25,000 Monthly Average Balance account.

And I was assigned a dedicated Relationship Manager who introduced herself, gave me her number and told me I could literally message her on WhatsApp if I ever needed anything

One bank gives me a real person I can directly talk to.

The other keeps telling me to go back to the branch I've already visited, despite me explaining that fact multiple times.

Im genuinely at the point where, once this account finally gets reactivated, Im thinking of withdrawing my money and closing the account entirely.

I cant trust bank with a bank whose support doesnt even appear to read customer emails.

Is this the experience for everyone else as well or have I just been spectacularly unlucky?
