advice on moving states + choosing insurance?

Hi! So I just graduated college and am moving from Michigan to Illinois for work. I am taking my sister’s car with me (deed is under my parents) and am more than a little lost on how to proceed for insurance + choose a good policy. I have stayed on my family’s policy since I got my license at 16 since it’s cheaper that way.
I know I need to get on my own insurance policy, get the deed transferred to my name, and get a new state license / plates, but I am unsure of what order to do these things in. I was thinking of going with Allstate for insurance since they have a good renters + auto bundle, but wasn’t sure if it was worth contacting an independent local insurance agent first before trying to make that move.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)
