Hello everyone! A week ago, I acquired my 4th Betta, and my first halfmoon. This is Kamino. 

This boy is very shy and skittish, and has been breathing super heavily (much less so when he is sleeping) since I first saw him at the store looking like a wet tissue in his prison.

For 4 days I kept him in a shallow quarantine tank with hides, tannins and moss, water kept at 25C. I opted for no flow and kept up water changes as needed. Very minimal lighting. Added a small amount of aquarium salt and vitamins. No signs of illness, but still heavy breathing. 

Moved him to an established yet empty 40L yesterday. Still panting. Plenty of cover and hides, both at the surface and below. Very minimal flow. Water around 25C again. Parameters all testing normal. No ammonia, nitrite, or nitrates (all my tanks show no nitrates due to being very heavily planted and everyone is thriving), PH around 7. Water conditioner. Also minimal lighting. He is still panting.

Of course he could be an anxious stressy fish but I wanted a second opinion. 

He eats and poops as normal, honestly the most food motivated one I have. Is as active as I'd expect from a new fish with heavy fins; has a blast chasing the few rogue shrimp in the tank.

Please see the video attached. My other Bettas are plakats, and can obviously see them breathe but never this heavy; yes Kamino has much heavier fins so valid you're tired buddy but I'm beginning to worry it's an abnormal amount of panting.

Please any input would be much appreciated. Id rather be told I'm worrying for no reason than let him potentially suffer any longer. And yeah I know he's got diamond eye, one of my other boys has it too. 🪩
