Need serious help choosing a rug, styling a living room and emerald green sofa
I'm kind of stuck with how to make this work. I've just moved to a rental apartment and I've got some limitations.
I have a velvet kind of dark emerald green sofa, against an art deco style more teal/blue wallpaper with dark gold accents. I tend to like darker wood furniture, midcentury vibes, but I'm so open to anything! I'm not sure what kind of colour palette I should go for is the main thing. What kind of a rug will work, or how to bring the two sides of the room together (relatively easily) to feel at least somewhat cohesive.
The furniture is mine but they need to stay where they are (can't swap around). The L-shaped chaise can be on either side of the sofa, left or right. I'm intending to get a new tv stand, a proper coffee table, an arm chair, ceiling light of course. Window area can obviously be styled to match whatever is going on in the rest of the room. The red arm chair on the front will be gone.
I can't put up art above the sofa but above the TV is no problem. Thank god the dog goes nicely with the sofa and wall, otherwise I'd have to swap her too! (jokes)
Behind me is a larger open area with a dining table hence the photo from this angle only.
Looking forward to any help/ideas/thoughts, thank you in advance 🙏
