How do you handle compatibility level drift with PBIP in git?

Question

For some context we version control Power BI reports as PBIP, and IT auto-deploys Desktop updates for our PBI Desktop.

I ran into the compatibility issues with the July update showing

Current CompatibilityLevel: ‘1606’.
Requested CompatibilityLevel: ‘1600’.

I can go into database.tmdl file but it’s painful if I have to do that for all our reports?

The issue is also that it fixes me but locks out anyone not yet updated, and compat level can’t go back down - so whoever updates first effectively decides for everyone..

Has anyone found a solution to this?
