Is the idea that people are karma farming by posting here an example of Christian persecution complex?
For comparison I've posted some of the same news stories here and in the subreddit of the location of the story:
| Subreddit | Karma | Subreddit | Karma |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christianity | 6 | Ohio | 629 |
| Christianity | 10 | Ohio | 514 |
| Christianity | 29 | Massachusetts | 2,032 |
| Christianity | 1 | Virginia | 177 |
| Christianity | 79 | Minnesota | 484 |
| Christianity | 3 | North Carolina | 567 |
| Christianity | 6 | QuincyMa | 156 |
Those are just a sample but I don't remember a case where the karma was bigger here. Reddit has hidden the subscriber count on subreddits, and that make it difficult to include the weight into the calculation.
Also, I posted for the first time in another subreddit and that single post got a third of the karma that I've gotten by posting here for years. Posting in the bigger/default subs usually get a lot more traction. The idea of karma farming in this subreddit is ridonkulous.
Yet from time to time the accusation comes up. I don't think I've gotten the accusation myself, but I'm vicariously annoyed.
Why would be persecution complex?
I posit that explanation since that type of motivated reasoning is not infrequent here, and it tracts with the sort of people saying it.
Why do you care about karma?
sigh, I don't. I'm addressing the baseless claim about karma farming on this sub.
Who are you replying to?
I'm speeding up the conversation.
