Most painful third act breakup

I know these aren’t super popular, but I love a third act breakup. I want to be ripped apart! I want to HURT! I want to YEARN.

I don’t care if it’s situational, miscommunication, or for other reasons, I just want our boys to fall apart so that when they come back together, it’s so lovely and satisfying. I want an emotional hangover!

No hard nos- I prefer contemporary, no fantasy but will read anything if it’s well-written.
