Religion victimizes its followers, not saves them. It is a mind virus that promotes false beliefs, stupid thinking and warped morals. Being religious is not a sign of moral superiority, but a sign of thinking improperly and having unresolved existential dilemmas.

All religions have fatal absurdities that work to debunk them. Jesus rose to the skies, in addition to being born to a virgin. Muhammad split the moon and rode a winged horse. Moses parted the Red Sea. There are the zoomorphic gods in Hinduism, in addition to the caste system. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, allegedly vanished underwater for three days and survived. To believe in such absurdities is psychological suffering. It is the deprivation of expansive critical thinking and therefore mental liberation.

Morality from religion is greatly suboptimal. How authentic is your good deed when you did it to not piss off your sky daddy so you can go to his happy land in the afterlife or get a desirable reincarnation? That’s not much of a morality if you ask me.
