My first paying users for my ai writing tool came from a boring public changelog, not a launch
I live in Claude Code and Cursor and I'm decent at shipping. I'm bad at launches. Every big launch I've tried landed flat, a spike of attention and then nothing.
What actually got me my first paying users was the least dramatic thing: a public changelog. Every time I fixed something or shipped a small feature, I wrote a plain, honest line about it and posted it where the tool lives. No hype, sometimes just "fixed the thing that broke exports for three of you, sorry."
Turns out people trust a product that's visibly being worked on more than a product with a big launch day and then silence. A couple of those changelog entries got replies, the replies turned into conversations, and a few of those turned into paying users.
It's slower than a launch and way less exciting. But it compounds, and it doesn't disappear the next morning.
For the solo people here, what's the least glamorous thing that actually got you paying users?
