Outstanding Income Tax Demand Still Showing After Full Payment – Sec 143(1)(a)

Hi everyone,
I’m facing an issue with outstanding tax demands on the Income Tax e-filing portal for AY 2025-26 and AY 2026-27.
I have already paid the full tax amount for both assessment years, including the applicable interest calculated up to 24 July 2026.
On 24 July, I responded to both demands by selecting “Demand is correct” and submitted the respective challan/payment details on the portal.
However, both demands are still showing as outstanding, and interest under Section 220(2) keeps increasing, even though I have already paid the complete amount.
The AY 2025-26 case is particularly confusing. I had paid the original tax amount last year itself, but the portal continued to show the demand as outstanding with additional interest. To avoid further issues, I paid the accumulated interest up to 24 July 2026 as well and submitted the payment details. Despite this, the demand is still outstanding and interest continues to accrue.
Any solution ?
