Anyone remember an animation where a guy gets new eyes nailed into his head?

I think it was around year 2000 give or take, I was supposed to be asleep while my parents watched tv, and I was secretly watching too from behind the door. There was this animation, that Don Hertzfeldt's style greatly reminds me of, where a guy lost his eyes and then got new ones from a jar full of eyes (I think??), and they were put into his head with a hammer and nails.

That's really all I can remember. It scared me a lot as a kid, and I didn't dare to tell anyone because I wasn't supposed to be watching. I just want to watch it again so I could process what it was.
