8 year old daughter bikes to tennis. family thinks I'm wrong for this

What's your take? She wears a helmet and an Apple watch with cell service. She knows how to navigate around. Bikes on the sidewalk and never has to cross a road, just short driveways. It's 0.5 mi each way. My family is saying I'm terrible for letting her do this and that she'll be kidnapped. We live in a typical midwestern suburb of 60k. I just want her to have some sense of responsibility and she's made her tennis lessons on time. I'm very proud of her, but their response is shaking me.
