Question Regarding Workload
My fiance started a job about three months ago at a local clinic, he is older, and has been a radiation therapists for 20 years. The clinic has one linear accelerator, and is treating 70 patients per 9 hour day. He comes home exhausted every day, they are running patients through like cattle every 10-15 minutes, and there is no patients interaction or care which is what my fiance likes about the industry. The turnover at the clinic is very high, because tge pace is punishing and the doctor keeps adding more patients. At one point he only had locum therapists because his entire 4 therapists staff walked out a year ago. There are no other radiation therapy jobs anywhere near us, abd we can't move because of an ill parent. He is exhausted, and miserable (like everyone else there) and I dont want to keep him in this cycle of misery. They hired him with a 15k sign on bonus, he has been there 5 months so if he leaves he would have to pay that back. Is there a different medical career with a similar physical he could transfer to, or have an easy transition to from Radiation therapy. Any advice is appreciated.
