Friend left car with me - catalytic converter stolen

A friend left her car in my driveway for a month. I have a garage but it was too full of stuff to store the car in there initially. In the first four days, someone stole the catalytic converter. Apparently this is a car very prone to having it stolen due to how easy it is to access. I don’t own a car so I never really thought about it. We figured out where to get it repaired over text since she is out of town. My partner drove the car there, I made the phone calls to get quotes and fronted the money.

I feel bad because she left it with me on my assurance that my neighborhood is quiet and low-crime (generally true, although I later learned from neighbors that car-related thefts have been an issue), and I didn’t clear out the garage in time for her to store it in there.

I feel like I should give her some money toward the repair /not make her pay the full amount. What would you do?
