Can I legally disinherit one of my children from property I inherited from my father? (Hindu law, India)
I'm looking for legal guidance under Hindu law in India.
Here's my situation:
My father purchased a property with his own money (it was his self-acquired property).
He passed away without leaving a will, and I inherited the property.
I have multiple children, and I am considering making a will.
I want to leave the property only to some of my children and exclude one child entirely.
My questions are:
Since I inherited the property from my father (rather than buying it myself), is it legally treated as my self-acquired/separate property, or does it become ancestral property?
Can I legally disinherit one of my children and leave the entire property only to the others through a valid will?
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or knows the relevant legal position or Supreme Court judgments?
I'm looking for legal insights rather than moral opinions. Thanks in advance.
