Heat blocking window film that won't hurt birds?

I live in a small apartment with big windows and the sun can heat the place up to 10+ degrees hotter than outside. Even with blinds closed and AC on it's still warmer than it should be. There is brick around the windows and I don't have permission to drill through or alter that to hang drapes.

So I'd like to buy some removable tinted or black out film.

Any suggestions?
