# First Impressions

I’ve wanted a clean pair of Rick Owens sneakers for a while, and these Vintage Brown lows immediately caught my attention. As soon as I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was how good the brown nubuck looked in person. The color has a really nice vintage tone that isn’t too dark or too light, and the cream leather side panel gives the shoe a clean contrast without being loud.

The materials feel much nicer than I expected for the price. The upper has a soft, slightly brushed texture. They’re minimal, but they still stand out.

# Build Quality

This pair feels really well made overall. The stitching is consistent throughout the upper, toe box, heel, and midsole, and I didn’t notice any loose threads or excess glue. The leather lining feels soft, and the padded collar gives the shoe a more premium feel than I expected.

The sole is mostly solid only some separation, the shoe has a nice weight in hand without feeling overly heavy. Everything feels well put together. The heel shape is a little off and the toebox isn’t perfect, but it is the one of the few pair and batches that come in my size. Which is a sacrifice I have to make.

**Build Quality: 8/10**

# Accuracy

Vintage brown color ✅
Nubuck texture ✅
Cream leather side panel ✅
Midsole shape and proportions ✅

I haven’t compared these side-by-side with an authentic pair, but after looking through plenty of retail photos, HYL seems to have done a really solid job. The proportions look right, the elongated silhouette is there, and the materials capture the same understated luxury vibe that Rick Owens is known for.

On foot nothing is really noticeable. In hand with a close look you can notice the toe box and heel shape being off.

# Comfort

Rick Owens sneakers aren’t designed to feel like running shoes, but they’re definitely comfortable enough for 2-4 hour wear. Going one size up worked perfectly for my wider feet, giving me enough room without making the shoe feel sloppy.

The padded collar and leather lining make them comfortable enough without much break in needed right out of the box, and after wearing them for a few hours, I didn’t have any rubbing around the heel or pressure on my toes.

**Comfort: 7/10**

# Overall: 7.5/10

I’m really happy with this pair. The vintage brown colorway is super versatile, the materials exceeded my expectations, and the overall construction feels premium. It’s one of those sneakers that’s simple on paper but looks even better once it’s on foot.
