Unity rush

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to the game, and I like learning about it before I really dive in. From what I’ve researched, it seems like rushing Unity is the current meta, so I’ve been building almost everything around increasing my Unity production, with a bit of Alloy production as well so my military doesn’t end up too weak.
I finally unlocked Mind Over Matter, but the problem is that it seems I need a certain technology to progress further. Since I barely produce any Research, my technologies take a very long time to finish, and Psionic Theory just never seems to appear as an option.
Did I mess something up?
