Question for people with compensated cirrhosis: how does your fatigue actually feel?

Hello everyone.

I have a question for people who have been diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis (or who had compensated cirrhosis before it progressed).

I’m trying to better understand what fatigue in cirrhosis actually feels like because different people describe it very differently.

  • Does your weakness feel more like muscle weakness, where your muscles simply don’t have strength?
  • Or is it more like your whole body has no energy, and even standing or walking feels exhausting?
  • Does physical activity make your symptoms much worse?
  • Do you experience a fast heart rate with exertion?

I’m also interested in sleep.

  • Did you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep?
  • Did you wake up feeling refreshed, or did you feel exhausted no matter how many hours you slept?
  • Was getting out of bed in the morning difficult?

If you remember, I’d also like to know how your fatigue changed over time. Did it start gradually, or did it suddenly become severe?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you.
