GPU questions

Question

So I’m planning on reviving my bricked rig(am4 platform, 5800x, mobo GPU slot and its connector on the cob got fried due to an accidental water spill(3070ti 8gb)

I was gaming at 1080p, playing Elden Ring, Gears, COD/Warzone, FF7 Remakes, ect. No problem.

I WAS going to buy a console, but due to the rising console prices, and my already owned games, the cheaper alt is to just replace my mobo(MSI MAG Tomahawk X570) with an exact clone of itself, and get a new GPU(I work for Walmart, I have MSRP access to them).

I did research, and all seems good, but before I invest, I just wanted to run it by you guys.

I can get a 5060ti(8gb or 16), or a base 5070. Both PNY if that helps.

Question 1) my goal is simply to get back online, figuratively and literally. The base investment is there and functional, consoles don’t seem worth it now. The 5060ti 8gb is cost effective atm, & seems to slightly outperform what I had before. Is it a foolish purchase? (My PSU is currently a Corsair rmx850, and this gpu seems to be fully compatible with my current 6+2 wires. Maybe even only needing 1 rather than both separate cables like my 3070ti did.) what can I expect with this purchase? I plan on gaming the same essentially. 1080p low-mid setting. High in certain cpu bound games.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Question 2: Does the 16gb model accept the same 6+2 cables? Or does it come with and require that adapter I’ve read about that comes with 5070’s?

I’m a little hesitant on the newer connectors after reading horror stories and I’m not sure how the adapter functions quality wise.

Also, I could just get a 5070 12gb, but I was always planning on building a separate higher end pc in the future, and keeping my current as a streaming/1080p build.

So in my mind, Id still be using my old config had bs never occurred. And I’d be on the market for a significant upgrade and new monitor eventually anyway.

What do you all think? I’m not expecting the world out of a 8gb 5060ti. But from what I’ve read it’s a slight upgrade from my older card. And again, it’s very cost effective for me at the moment.

Thanks in advance for your feedback guys! 💪🙏🏼🫶
