Am i doing something wrong

I'm a Christian, and I've been thinking about something that happened today.

Someone mentioned Chick-fil-A, so I leaned over to my friend (who's also Christian) and said, "Weren't they cancelled because of the whole LGBTQ controversy?" She said, "I don't know, but they're a Christian company." I just replied, "Yeah, but aren't we supposed to love everyone?" and then the conversation kind of died.

I've been thinking about it ever since because now I'm wondering if I'm the one who's got it wrong.

I've always believed that Jesus calls us to love everyone. That's one of the biggest things I've taken from my faith. So when I see Christians treating people differently because of who they love, it honestly makes me sad.

The thing is... I'm not straight either.

I've struggled with a lot of self-hatred and internalised homophobia because of things I've heard growing up in church. I still believe in Jesus, and I still want to follow Him, but sometimes I wonder if I'm just making excuses for myself when I tell myself that Jesus loves me anyway.

Is that wrong? Is saying "Jesus loves me anyway" just me trying to justify something, or is it okay to trust that He really does love me, even while I'm still figuring things out?

I'm not trying to argue or change anyone's mind. I genuinely want to hear what other people think, whether you're Christian or not. Please just be kind.

Jesus loves you; that much I know.
