Does it ever get better?
My ex girlfriend and I had been dating for a little over a year when I heard a rumour at school that she was cheating on me which turned out to be true.
Obviously we ended up breaking up but I was left in a really bad place mentally where I felt lonely and almost as if I wasn’t good enough for her?
I was pretty much thinking of every possible explanation to justify why she did what she did and to be honest it just left me feeling hopeless and really depressed for a while.
About a month later she calls me really late at night sobbing and telling me that she’s not stopped regretting what she did since and that it’s the dumbest thing she’s ever done. I ended up staying on the phone to her as it kind of felt refreshing just to speak to her after so long and she told me that she cheated on me because she had problems with our relationship that she thought I wouldn’t care about if she brought it up. I told her that I would’ve been willing to speak about anything and she said that it’s not a good justification but it’s the truth.
Since then we’ve been talking again and we’ve met up a few times but I can’t help but think that she’s really not trustworthy even though I want things to work out so badly.
I’m mostly posting this for the people that have been through similar experiences to tell me what helped them and for a bit of advice.
