Does knowing me more, lead to loving me less?
Ive been in an on and off thing with someone since high school, I never dated him then because I thought he was just playing me (I was young and insecure) but nevertheless he always kept in contact with me and reminded me of how "highly" he thought of me. Anyways after high school and we went our separate ways we would reconnect he and there the only difference is that he became a strongly devout muslim and I wholeheartedly respect that as I am a christian woman, with continuing our relationship together, I continuously pushed him away because I knew fundamentally we wouldn't work (it was a form of protection)... I didn't want to set myself up for heartbreak. He reached out to me July 4th and we started to take things serious and really get to know each other, our talks became more and more serious and we were intertwined into each others lives texting/calling/seeing each other any moment we got (stupid on my part). He started talking to me about how he would expect his future partner to be more modest, how he would raise his children, no eating pork, or drinking etc. (which are things I contemplated on compromising w/ him), but the biggest issue was how he wasn't willing to do any compromising like no smoking weed and was leaving all the changes on me. That realistically isn't fair for a relationship to work. The moment I gave in hoping things will go great for this whole month, I let him get to know me and my vulnerabilities, my trauma, my fears, what makes me happy and he pulls away which leads me to believe the famous "does knowing me more lead to loving/liking me less"??
Im not willing to change to be loved even with me never asking him to change anything about himself because I genuinely liked him for who he was. I knew fundamentally back then we wouldn't work and I should've protected my self more by just cutting him from my life while we were still cordially good with one another.
Our time together ended Tuesday July 28th I cried that whole day/night, yesterday was fine and today is hitting pretty hard.
