Wheel of the Year
Hi everyone!
I'm a baby witch, new broom, whatever term you prefer to use but anyway, I'm new to the craft and was curious, what do we feel about celebrating the wheel of the year? I've been doing some research and I've seen major divides on if it should be observed or not due to its problematic origins, and was hoping to get some more in depth opinions on the practice.
Are there specific ways in which I should be celebrating them in order to be respectful to the cultures they originate from? I find my ancestry in Ireland so holidays such as Bealtaine originate from my roots, but I've seen discussions about the wheel placing Nordic holidays on the wrong dates and to do with the fact that 'Mabon' isn't actually holiday.
I understand that every witch follows their craft according to what feels right for them, but I want to make sure that I'm not accidently treading into practices that may be closed or sacred to certain communities.
