We’re living in a really cool and unique time in metal/music
I think it’s incredible the time we’re in right now music wise. We often look back on “legacy acts” and their respective heydays and it seems crazy when bands had a 10 year run of good albums. For people around my age (I’m 35), we’re in the middle of some incredible 20+ year runs with some bands. When looking back at this time, there are artists who will be revered for the output they managed to produce. Bands who will be considered legendary. The first few that come to mind for me are Mastodon, Between the Buried and Me, Gojira, and Meshuggah. All three have been prolific, well respected and are STILL making great music that absolutely holds up to their early work.
Some bands who aren’t quite as old but maybe on their way would be Deafheaven (people seem to have moved on from the Sunbather controversy and able to appreciate them now), Periphery, Lorna Shore?
It’s a fascinating thing to think about for me. What are some other good examples? I’m sure there’s a ton I’m missing.
