How do you guys roleplay your characters?
I'm currently trying to make a Redguard or a Bosmer for the first time, and usually I'm big into roleplaying a character that fits the story at least to some extent. But with these two I'm struggling to find a way that makes sense for them to be part of Nord culture in any way, shape or form.
Bosmer are just generally not that involved in much when it comes to TES lore, and they lend themselves easily to being included in smaller, more obscure bits and stories if you're creative enough. However, when it comes to Skyrim's main quest, they just feel like a very small fish in a very thick and culturally-loaded bowl. I just can't figure out how or why a Wood Elf of all things would be randomly picked up by the Divines to become the next Dragonborn. Even going as far as trying to come up with one of those "wrong person in the right place and time" tropes, it still feels off.
Redguards are perhaps even worse since they have their own well-established version of the afterlife in the form of the Far Shores. Not only that, but they also have their own culturally-specific form of magic with their Swordsingers tradition and the Shehai. Even going as far as roleplaying a more adventurous type of Redguard or a sailor, it still feels kind of like I'm putting on a Nord costume and renting the Thu'Um until I get back home to my own version of it.
