Free styling is the scariest thing I’ve done as a SD. I would love advice.
About a year after my divorce, I found myself rediscovering how exciting it can be to build new connections. Exploring the sugar lifestyle has been a fun part of that journey, and I’ve been pretty open with friends about wanting to meet a great SB. I’ve mostly been using Seeking, but recently a friend suggested I try freestyle.
I’ll admit, the idea sounded intimidating. Walking into a venue by myself with the intention of meeting someone felt way outside my comfort zone. Still, I decided to give it a shot.
The advice I kept seeing was to visit upscale restaurants, hotel bars, and lounges. After trying a few, I noticed most people were already with a partner or a group, especially during the times I could go after work or on weekends. Maybe I just had bad timing, or maybe I’m looking in the wrong places.
I know success is partly a numbers game, so I’m not giving up. But I’m curious if anyone found better luck somewhere less obvious. Did you discover a venue or strategy that worked better than the “usual” recommendations? Is approaching people outside their social groups the key?
I’d love to hear your freestyle success stories, lessons learned, or even the mistakes that helped you improve.
