Job application timeline

I am currently very close to going out on maternity leave for 16 weeks, and want to find a new position for after leave is over to better fit my scheduling needs/ location. A great opportunity just popped up in my email (a new job listing notification) and I am wondering, is it too early to send in an application knowing I cannot start til after the holidays?

I have about 5 years RN experience in a similar role to this new one, and a solid resume. If anyone has any experiences with this or knows how nursing hiring process works, insight is appreciated.
