Restless leg -questionable relief?
I have had mecfs for 5 years and and ulcerative colitis for 15 years. I started somatic exercises by reading Peter Levines books and had some pretty intense moments, like shaking and strong stomach pain which makes me believe there's maybe something to be gained for me.
One annoying symptom I've had on and off for about 20 years is restless leg syndrome. It means that in the night my left arm and leg are tingling terribly which prevents me from sleeping.
One weird thing which happened since the first somatic sensations in the last weeks is that this restless feeling wandered over to the other side. Suddenly both sides are tingling!
So I guess something happened, but not enough?
I've tried to track the characteristic of that body sensation instead of being overwhelmed by it, and one or two times that somehow worked and the feeling changed/got better. But it is just so damn uncomfortable amd most of the time I just can't push through.
Additionally there's this simple relief, which has been helping since years, which is... to masturbate. Having read Peter Levine this has become pretty interesting as he describes that sexual function can be altered by trauma.
Now I'm not sure if this is something that has to be addressed or if this is just an acceptable strategy to sleep better which won't interfere with my healing and I just have to be patient.
Any advice or thoughts on this?
