36 [M4F] You ever catch yourself reaching for your phone... and then realize you don't know who you'd send it to?

NSFW

I did that this week.

I was sitting in an airport looking at the saddest excuse for eggs I've ever seen. My first thought was to take a picture and send it to someone with, "This has to be illegal."

Then I realized I didn't really have a person I'd naturally send it to.

Not because life is bad. It isn't.

I'm 36, married man, and living in western Canada. Life is good. I travel a bit for work and whenever I can for fun. The funny thing is I forget most places, but I remember the food. The tiny taco place. The random ramen shop. The breakfast that should have been average but somehow became a memory.

I think that's what I miss. Not a relationship. Just having a person.

Someone who's part of your day.

The random thought. The stupid picture. The "this reminded me of you" message.

Not someone who's glued to their phone all day. We both have lives. Work gets busy. Things happen. Some days you talk a lot, some days you don't. That's normal.

But it's nice knowing there's someone you'll eventually come back to.

The conversations I like are usually the ones that start with something completely pointless and somehow turn into an hour of talking about travel, childhood memories, terrible movies, or arguing about something that absolutely does not matter.

I'm pretty dry, a little sarcastic, and I like someone who can give it right back.

So tell me something.

What's the last thing that made you think, "I wish I had someone to send this to?"
