Misty Moon / Lily Lake trail Bighorns

I will be solo backpacking 3 days in this area. Explain like I have no idea what I’m doing. Drop whatever pertinent information you think I need to know if you are familiar with the area. I have bear spray but I talked to a ranger and they said bears are behaving much differently this year because of a odd early thaw/blooms coupled with subsequent freezes that killed a lot of the food sources. So I have some extra precaution to take along the way. I have a bear bag but I’m wondering if I should instead use a canister? I will be putting all stinky stuff except bear spray in the bag at night well away from my camp.

The ranger did not recomend hiking alone but that’s what I’m doing, for various reasons.

That in mind anything you have to point out is much appreciated.

I have lots of experience with black bears but not in this area. And I’ve never hiked here so any information at all can be helpful to me.

The ranger recommended getting or renting a sat communicator, i have never used one and I’m leaving very soon so I don’t have time to order one. But I will make a stop on my way there if truly necessary. I know you never need it until you do, but is this really necessary? I do plan on going off trail to camp and venture here and there but not too far off.

Took time off work to do this and working my last day today so might not be able to comment back much but I’ll do my best.
