Has anyone had to request more staffing for their department/role?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts

Long story short, has anyone had to talk to management about their role being understaffed? Is it even worth the conversation? I’m an event coordinator handling 200 events a year.

I handle registering all events, making sure all events are staffed, making sure no one is double booked, turning in all administrative paperwork and information for events, handling all payments, renting furniture, if it’s a bigger event working with our shipping company everything that comes with that, physically packing and shipping equipment for events, tracking all ROI, and then also looking up new events we can participate in. I used to have someone helping me but they got pushed out and I absorbed all their responsibilities. Each event is different too. This doesn’t even cover every single job responsibility I have, just the day-to-day basics.

For me it’s not the money, it’s the brain power needed to keep everything on track. One person can’t manage all of this at once. I’m in constant fire fighting mode, and every mistake, even though small, feels like a complete failure. My boss has been asking me to look up information for 10 plus new events at a time, and adding more shipping responsibilities. I just accidentally double booked a staff member for a new event my boss was pushing and I can feel myself getting to my breaking point. As someone with unmedicated ADHD this job is a nightmare.

I used to actually love my job when I wasn’t handling any shipping. I’ve done a lot of research and talking to other people in my role, and technically there should be one coordinator for every 70-80 events, and for a company our size, all my responsibilities are usually split amongst 2-5 people. Even the past coordinator who got promoted said they never had to do any shipping, and I found paperwork from 2016 that shows there used to be 3 people running events.

This is a cry for help and any advice would be helpful. I know I should probably quit but my plan was to hunker down until the job market got better. Before the market got bad it was already taking me like 6 months to job search.
