Skullrock and Streamer reputation
Anyone else hate the reputation streamers have of abandoning their community on a game or platform once they get bored or want to do something else?
It can end up wasting a lot of peoples time, especially the people without a lot of time to game, who end up following them around from game to game never really being able to catch up to do the end game content and lose hours of their time trying to be apart of something for it to fall apart seemingly a whim.
I look at hardcore skullrock. The server is in rough shape. It has this bad reputation from dedicated players as being the streamer server so they don’t even want to play on it and go to doomhowl or somewhere else.
It has a bunch of people who enjoy the hardcore experience but are now part of dead guilds from when there streamer left them, scattered and leaderless.
I know there are streamer events and it’s implied it is going to eventually end but I’m not talking about those events even tho I feel it adds to the reputation of the server or world what have you. In a negative way.
Some of these people invest hundreds of hours into guilds and server communities that can disappear overnight.
Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying every streamer does this or that every event is bad. But it does seem to be mostly negative.
That being said streamers shouldn’t feel trapped in a game they no longer enjoy, but do they have any responsibility to think about the communities they’ve built before moving on? Or is that just the reality of following a content creator? Should there be some consideration? Or is the general response going to be he or she’s a streamer they don’t have to care they just need to make content?
And maybe im looking at all this the wrong way maybe it isn’t a big deal and I’m stewing on it for nothing.
