The Berlin Fan Fest gave us a few new tidbits about Evercold. And with what we know from the NA Fan Fest, and the MSQ up until this point, there are a few things that we can probably speculate with high certainty.

But first some facts before the speculation dive:

● We were told that Evercold is going to use a lot of Norse themes in its story.

● Of the previous FF games both FF7 and FF13 have the most Norse themes in them. With 13 being the more overt of the two.

● We know that, in universe, the world is preparing to end it's current existence and start anew, The Solstice, which is basically what Ragnarok is in Norse mythology.

So with those facts, we can make a few inferences. The first few related to FF13.

*While FF7 has a few Norse themes, they are mere references scattered about. With the story more focused on a "Christian"narrative. Compared that to FF13, where the entire point of the narrative is to bring about Ragnarok. The Solstice and Ragnarok are one and the same, so the MSQ will most likely draw more from FF13.*

*FF13 also features Cocoon, a refuge for humanity, hanging over Pulse, considered an inhospitable land by Cocoon's inhabitants. This is quite similar to the airships housing life over the frozen wasteland of the Fourth.*

*The frozen land below could be named Niflheim, after the primordial land of ice in Norse mythology.*

*People have theorized that the male Au Ra in the trailer might be Odin, because of the "missing" glowing eye. But there is also the female Au Ra, who could possibly be Hel, goddess of the dead, who resides in Niflheim/Helheim. Hel also mimics the goddess Etro in FF13, ruling over a baran land of the dead. (Though admittedly, they named Etro's world Valhalla, the imaginary still stands)*

*Additionally, while the two Au Ra in the trailer are theorized to be Odin and Hel, there is another interpretation. Two of the main characters in FF13 specifically represent Lif and Lifthrasir, the two human survivors of Ragnarok; Vanille and Fang. Vanille is know for having a connection to souls, death, and prayer, similar to the female Au Ra in the trailer. The two Au Ra's we see might be interpretations of Lif and Lifthrasir. Bonus that they are seen in the frozen land below, just like Vanille and Fang are from Gran Pulse. The Odin theory for the male, and the Hel theory for the female are still valid, this is just an alternate interpretation based on some new info.*

*The enemies we see are also reminiscent of the cie'th stones on Pulse. And the runes for each ship are similar to l'Cie brands. So there might be an overall connection between the runes and the wandering behemoths we see. This might also indicate an actual purpose for the behemoths. Maybe they are charged with siphoning specific aether, leaving only ice behind.*

The next set of inferences can come about from the new info we got, and possible connections to Norse mythology.

*We are told there are 5 airships total, each one corresponding to one of the 6 elements, besides ice. We are told the names of 2 of those ships, Hringhorni(fire) and Naglfar(water). There are 4 main Norse ships in mythology, the two mentioned and Skidbladnir and Sessrumnir. These will probably be the names of two of the 3 remaing ships. And based on each ships myth, Skidbladnir being a flying ship, and Sessrumnir referencing a field, the former is probably the wind ship, and the latter the earth ship. Leaving the lightning ship as the only one with nothing to go off of. But that might be significant given the elements significance to the most popular god in Norse mythology, and the main character of FF13.*

*Each ship, barring Naglfar, in Norse mythology was owned by a specific individual. We are told that each airship has a barrier, and someone who maintains it. We are introduced to Visna, presumably on Naglfar. Visna in mythology is a barrier-maiden, possibly making her the person who maintains Naglfar's barrier; considering she manifests the water rune. This means the owners of the other ships, in mythology, might be the barrier keepers for that ship. Baldr for Hringhorni, Freyr for Skidbladnir, and Freya for Sessrumnir. This also means the Roe in the trailer could be Baldr. The names might not be exact, like Visna's, but they could still be expies of those individuals. This also might indicate Thor or Lightning as the main person for the remaining lightning aspected ship.*

*The Kottr are dwarf cats, and could reside in a location called Svartalfheim or Nidavellir, the land of the dwarves.*

*Plus, since each race is called something different on the shards, they might draw their names from the mythological races. Roegadyn/Jotnar(giants), Lalafell/Dvergar(dwarves), Elezen/Alfar(elves)*

*We might possibly see other realm names as sub-locations on the ships. Like Muspell on the fire ship, or Alfheim in an area populated by Elezen.*

*We might encounter the summon Brynhildr on the fire ship in some capacity. And the term Valkyrie will probably be used in some capacity.*

I think this is everything my thoughts could gather, but I'm sure there might be more. Does anyone else have any ideas on what to expect based on the information we've gotten?

What can be inferred about Evercold with the new info gained from Berlin Fan Fest?
