Daylight breaks fresh linen sheets
Pine-sol residue
Steam kissing the mirror
Lotioned skin, clean shave
White-wicked candles linger

Amber flames dance
Shadows bounce in corners
Fumbling in the darkness
Shallow breaths
Crooked smiles
Overflowing the cup

Silence between catching breaths
Slow, heart flutters
Hands interlocked
Droning fan cools
Sweat-soaked skin
Full weight on your chest

Daylight breaks wrinkled sheets
Light snores, easing out of bed
The earthly drip awakens you
Bedside cool to the touch
Greeted with warmth
