I'm trying to understand how this works since H-1B visa appointments are so limited.

My current passport expires in the first half of 2028, and I plan to renew it sometime in the first half of 2027. However, I'm unsure when I should complete my DS-160 and pay the visa fee for visa stamping.

My concern is that if I submit the DS-160 and book an appointment now, but my appointment ends up being in late 2027 or even 2028, I'll likely have renewed my passport by then. Since the passport number changes after renewal, will that cause any issues with the DS-160 or the visa appointment?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you able to update the passport details after renewing, or did you wait until you had the new passport before submitting the DS-160 and booking the appointment?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's gone through this. Thanks!
