Optimising my cashback setup – Need suggestions on what to add, keep, or cancel!
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to review and streamline my credit card setup. Here is a breakdown of what I currently hold, what I use them for, and what my additional spending requirements look like. Would love your feedback on how to optimize this setup, what to drop, and what to apply for next!
I’m 27 M, CIBIL score is 792
**1. My Current Portfolio & Usage**
**SBI Cashback Credit Card- Paid**
**Primary Purpose:** Core daily driver for 5% online cashback across e-commerce platforms (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, etc.).
**PhonePe SBI Black (RuPay Credit Card)- Paid**
**Primary Purpose:** Offline UPI transactions (vendor payments, local shops, daily small spends) to earn rewards on RuPay UPI.
Looking to probably close this also because of platform and convenience fees is high compared to the cashback I’m getting out of it.
Axis ACE Credit Card: Evaluating this for 5% on utility bills via Google Pay and 1.5% base offline cashback.
Planning to close this too as the utility rewards is applicable on android devices.
I also own Amazon Pay ICICI and Swiggy HDFC Orange as LTF and ICICI HPCL for fuel currently.
**2. My Additional Requirements & Gaps**
I am looking to optimize my setup for the following spending areas:
**Utility Bills (Electricity, Water, Wifi):** Looking for consistent, decent cashback without heavy spend locks or complex capping rules.
**Offline Spends & Dining/Groceries:** Need a solid card for offline retail, dining out, and grocery/food delivery platforms (Blinkit, Swiggy, Zomato).
**Movies & Entertainment:** Discounts or BOGO offers on BookMyShow/District for weekend movies/events.
**Lounge Access:** Occasional domestic airport lounge access.
**3. Options I'm Evaluating / Recent Updates**
**Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card:** I recently applied for this, but given the recent devaluations (linking utility/Airtel bill caps to base spends, removing Swiggy/BigBasket 10%, and dropping domestic lounge access), I am considering letting it go unactivated so it auto-closes without fees.
**HSBC Live+ Credit Card:** Considering this for 10% cashback on dining, food delivery, and groceries (Swiggy, Zomato, Instamart, Blinkit).
**Movie / Entertainment Options:** Considering
cards like **ICICI Sapphiro / Coral**, **Kotak** movie-focused variants, or **IDFC First Select** for BookMyShow BOGO offers.
I sent an email to HDFC team asking for a diners club or regalia gold, but received an automated email of rejection since I own the Swiggy card. Have raised an escalation email, still yet to hear back.
Should I reject/cancel the **Airtel Axis** card upon delivery, or is it still worth keeping for utility needs?
What is the best card combo to pair with my **SBI Cashback** to cover **Offline Shopping + Utilities + Movies/Lounge**?
Which cards would you recommend I **ADD**, **KEEP**, or **REJECT/REMOVE**?
Looking forward to your recommendations and strategies! Thanks in advance!
