Deltarune Chapters are related to each Soul Color in Undertale
A theory popped up in my head while I was getting ready for school one day and it grew to this big theory
When you check recruits, you know the color of the background that's behind the enemy you check, have you noticed so far that they are the color of the souls in Undertale.
Chapter 1: Purple
Chapter 2: Cyan
Chapter 3: Green
Chapter 4: Blue
Which in Undertale, the souls represent a trait as you know so with this Knowledge, the trait if each Chapter are
Chapter 1: Perseverance
Chapter 2: Patience
Chapter 3: Kindness
Chapter 4: Integrity
I know that your wondering, how do these relate to the Chapters, well I thought over it and I can prove that the soul colors, relate to the Chapter
So first let's look at Chapter 1 where the color of the backround for the enemys from Chapter 1 in the check recruitments menu is purple which is the soul color for Perseverance. As stated, this Chapter should be related to Perseverance and it is. You Persever alot in this Chapter, like when Susie is giving you trouble at with C. Round but you, Kris and Ralsei still pull through. The Jevil Boss is another good example, Jevil is a hard boss and you will constantly die, but when you Persever, you can beat him. Roulx Kaard constantly tries to battle you, not giving up and Persevering, even though The Fun Gang solved his puzzles and tried countless times to defeat them, even in future Chapters like Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. The King also shows Perseverance, even though he was beaten, he didn't want to give in, he chooses not to side with the lightners, staying persistent with his view of them, he had to be locked away instead unlike the other 2 antagonist in the next 2 Chapters who side with the Lighter after their Chapters. Even im future chapters he stays persistent on his ideas, and wishes not to side with the Lightners. Even when the King was defeated and he was exhausted and tired, after Ralsei healed him, he still attacked them again, even limping to Kris after he gets knocked back showing he's still injured but is still Persevering. Lancer throughout the Chapter, before he comes to your side, he constantly tries to thrash the lightners, trying to be evil with evil plans, and continues doing so when he joins up with Susie, showing how Lancer, no matter if he was defeated, tried again and and again, making new plans like trying to outnumber the Lightners, getting them to fight C. Round, making a Thrash Machine, trying to fight, you Kris and Ralsei with Suise on his side, Lancer stayed persistent and constantly persevered, not giving up even though being beaten countless times by thr Lightners in this Chapter. Also cant help but notice the enemys we see persevere against us just so happens to be purple, Lancer, King, Roulx Kaard, Jevil, i thought that was funny, even Susie is purple and shows Perseverance. Their might be more examples in this Chapter but those are the scenes that came up in mind.
Now let's look at Chapter 2, the color of the background of the enemys in Chapter 2 in the check recruitment menu is Cyan which is the color of the soul for Patience. This was a little bit harder to figure out but I think I figured it out. Your probably saying, "How does Chapter 2 fucking relate to Patience and how does it have anything to do with that Chapter?" And I was thinking the same thing until I looked deeper and this Chapter had more relations to Patience than I originally thought. For one, Queen is not in a rush or anything, Queen doesn't immediately want to reenact her plan, she does stuff like get an arcade machine so she can beat the Lightners in a Video Game to "eradicate their self esteem" making a seemingly thought out plan even though most of the shit she does is fucking stupid and just gag, a passive aggressive villain, but this goes to show that shes Patient and thorugh with her plans. Most of Queens shenanigans are like this involving stopping Kris throughout the Chapter to talk to them, like asking them if they seen Noelle, talking to Kris about being on the same "mathematical wavelength" before Berdly shows up with a statue, having your progresed be halted and you have to wait and be Patient to continue. Queen never gets pissed off if a plan doesn't work out correctly, showing very good Patience, Queen is also very Patient with Noelle, wanting to make her comfortable and making sure she's safe, Queen wants Noelle to be her Peon in her plan to make more Dark Fountains but she doesn't force Noelle against her will, Queen trys to make Noelle comfortable, making a room for her that's based on her search, showing her Patience with Noelle to becoming her peon before the Lightners eventually kicked her ass. Spamton also shows this, when he was a BIG SHOT because he started talking to this guy on the phone that made him a BIG SHOT but one day, the guy didn't answer, Spamton was left there, WAITING for another call, BEING PATIENT, but to no eval, he was kicked out of Queens Mansion, and left to sit in the trash. During the end segment of Chapter 2, after the Dark World, where you explore town, one of the diolouge from Sans when you goes to his store and talk to him, is the one about his brother, when you pick that diolouge option, Sans's response is that you wont see him today, and that it might be days, months, years, basically telling us to be PATIENT. We could also go meta with this and say that we hade to wait for the next Chapters after the cliffhanger ending of Chopter 2, which was an almost 4 year wait when we finally got 3 and 4 in June, so we had to be PATIENT to see the follow up to Chapter 2's ending. During the Cyber City, this point is miniscule but you and the enemy you fight when you first go into a battle with Noelle take the time to explain how the battle works to her. Now do you believe me, that's 2 Chapters, explained to the best of my ability and how they are related to the Undertale soul colors. Yeah this some crazy shit and im like 7 note pages into this fucking thing. Anyways, onto Chapter 3.
Chapter 3 gives us more obvious representation of its soul color in the Chapter. As we see in the check recruitment menu, the enemys for Chapter 3 have a green color which is the soul color for Kindness in Undertale. Tenna throughout the Chapter is not a bad guy and is kind to them, until he is caught having Toriel and you gotta get through TV world to face him but after the battle he goes on your side. After the Tenna fight, Susie shows an act of kindness by telling Tenna about her struggles and how she feels to comfort Tenna. Tenna then gives Toriel back back he gets injured by the Knight. Earlier in the Chapter Ralsei tells you to check on Susie to see if she's alright, and towards the beginning of the Chapter when Tenna wants the Fun Gang to be in a game show and Susie says no after she was upset when Ralsei told her Darkners weren't weird, Ralsei wants to accept Tennas game so Susie can still have fun with him and Kris, showing an act of Kindness. After defeating RAM Susie comes to check on you and sees you playing the game and asks if your having fun in which you can say your not and she will respond by picking up the controller and dropping it infront of Kris saying "Then dont play" and when's she's done talking to you, she sets a soda on the ground for Kris to pick up showing an act of Kindness towards Kris. In TV world you come across Shadows guys on game systems force to do paper work. You can shred their papers so they can be free and you recruit them all, showing an act of Kindness. This one's a small example but during the first board Tenna gets his crew to throw Susie a yogurt after they complete quiz, a small act of Kindness.
Chapter 4, based on the background of the color for the Chapter 4 enemys innthe check recruitments menu is Blue. This means that Chapter 4 should connect to the soul color of Integrity and I have proof it does. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, which we see a lot of this in Chapter 4. For one, the entire chapter is in a Dark World in the Church, a place of religion with morals and stories, as well as the prophecy, the Chapters literal name. We see the Fun Gang express them self more and being honest with eachother. In the room in the church you go to with the small piano in the light world, Susie explains a moment in her life when she tried to play Piano and was told not to play cuz she was bad at it and let someone else play, Susie in the night then smashed that Piano, Susie then tells Kris that she would've hated them if she knew them when it happened. Noelle in the beginning of the Chapter, gets honest with Susie and expresses herself more to Susie. Ralsei also explains his worrys and difficulties, like not telling the Lightners specific important details about how the Dark World works until its too late, and he explains his struggles with knowing all this information and knowing when to tell them. Ralsei hoped that the prophecy shown in this Dark World would change of they were nice to everyone we meet but its the same fate. Im the first Dark World in this Chapter, we see The Wafers, these religious darkners that worship the philosophers, the philosophers are frozen in stone. The Wafers are representative of Monks, people who dedicate their lives to religious and spiritual discipline and pursuits to live a life of asceticism and contemplation. On the other hand, The philosophers are, well, the Philosophers as they offer theories on profound questions about life, ethics, logic, and metaphysics. Like how they study the Wafers who are stone in the Second Dark World made by Susie where Susie also often questions about life and ethics like the philosophers. The Philosophers Instead of worshiping the Wafers, like the Wafers did to them, The Philosophers study them like an archeologist, a thing from that past that they found. Rather than thinking these stone people are gods or ancient ancestors, they think them as a fossils, evidence from the past that they once existed but dont anymore. When these 2 groups finally meet eachother in the Third Sanctuary, the Third Dark World, they go on to argue and hate eachother. The funny thing is, both Religion and Philosophy all have the central concept of Integrity, which makes this theory more convincing. The Wafers and Philosophers have arguments, a Wafer saying that the Philosophers are babbling fools, furious that their so called 'wise ancestors' are just "babbling fools." These characteristics and conflict represent the Monks and Philosophers in the real world, and the different beliefs of history, religion, and purpose, this all relates to Integrity, their honesty about what the believe in causing conflict about their beliefs, very unethical to be doing that, like in the real world, showing an toxic version of Integrity. Does all this make sense? I hope it does. The prophecy shown towards the end of the Dark World shows some kind of final tragedy that will befall the Fun Gane before they save the world, needing to have something bad happen in order for the world to be said. The prophecy is honest and true but can make us question are ethical and moral choices, once more, connecting to Integrity. Phew that was a long explanation, but do you believe this now? This is my first ever attempt at making a theory and my writing style aint all that great and you need to be able to know the context of what im talking about, there might be mistakes here and their and also let me know any other good points in the game that confirm my theory, I would love to see them.
Also have notice each Chapters color scheme is based on the colors of one of the souls from Undertale, Chapter 1 we see mostly Purple in the Dark World, Chapter 2 has mostly Cyan, the Cyber City and Queens Mansion being a Cyan color, Queen being Cyan herself. Chapter 3 literally has the Green Room that we spend a good amount if time on, and Chapter 4 as we see, the Dark World is made up of shades of blue.
With Chapter 5 out, the recruit page has Yellow in the background the color of the Justice Soul, we also have Yellow who is a cow boy but we also have the other 6 flowers. Asgore does indeed want Justice, using his chance of being in this Dark World to finally figure out what happened that day on thay Old Dark Fountain. Asgore wants Justice and wanted to parade the Knights body to prove his innocence even tho his family didn't blame him and Asgore pushing his family away to prove he was not guilty for that day and just wants to prove the Dark Worlds are real. Flowery also wants Justice for Asgore and wants to liberate him from his family, even pushing Kris away and wanting Asgore to stay here with him and the other flowers in the Dark World so hes not so hurt.
Im gonna predict the other two by process of elimination. Chapter 6 will be Bravery (the orange soul) and it just makes sense thematically for the final grand Chapter to be themed after Determination (the Red soul).
But hey that's just a Theory, A GAME THEOR- anyways that was my theory, if theirs any issues feel free to let me know, and with that, thanks for reading, and have a great day.
