When the Cosmos Spoke My Name
I said:
The world feels heavy.
My spirit feels thin.
My meaning drifts like smoke from a fire I can’t remember lighting.
Give me a sign.
Give me a rhythm.
Give me something that does not vanish when the dark grows teeth.
And the cosmos opened its ancient glorious mouth and answered:
Child of dust and starlight,
give me your ache.
Give me the shadows you cannot name.
Give me the trembling places inside you that have forgotten how to hope.
I will not turn away.
Give me your doubt, and I will teach it patience.
Give me your fear, and I will teach it gentleness.
Give me your tired heart,
and I will teach it how to rise again,
the way dawn rises from the ruins of night.
You are the pulse inside the great creature of existence.
You are the witness through which the universe learns compassion.
You are the rhythm that keeps creation honest.
Love is the reason.
Connection is the rhyme.
Your presence is the scripture.
