Stylization and perspective
I've recently returned to the draft of a novel I had been working on, and no matter how many things I try, there's always something that doesn't feel right about the presentation. So, I've come here to ask for opinions and advice; how do you stylize your books (i.e. chapter headers, line breaks), and what perspective do you enjoy writing and reading from?
Personally, I'm writing from a first person perspective, potentially of multiple characters. With my writing style, I also try extra hard to avoid omniscience since I am writing something akin to narration or even a detailed diary, to keep the narrator unreliable yet observant.
For stylizing, I don't have much. The chapter headers are the same font as the text,= and include a character quote from the text that might be relevant to the chapter, but picked deliberately because it could also have many interpretations. For line breaks, to indicate a change in the scene, I use a center-aligned "✧ ✧ ✧", similar to web novels and fics I've seen on websites like Wattpad or AO3.
