My ex cheated on me and my life is better

As the title says, this is the truth.

Back in February of 2025, I (28M) found out that my girlfriend of 8 years was emotionally cheating on me with another guy.

It started off small where she said that she was flirting with someone else, that it didn’t mean anything and that she was only doing it bc she never got a chance to be single in adulthood. This guy had a girlfriend so she thought nothing would come of it.

Fast forward months of “I’m going to stop on this day” and “it’s not him but just the idea of being single” I had enough. I caught them walking home together and she told me nothing happened and stupidly… I believed here. She stopped doing this until January of this year. At that point, I thought we were okay. She came home one night stupid drunk, I took care of her and made sure she got to bed safe… that’s when she called me his name. I got suspicious, of course, and looked through her phone… I know that’s bad but with everything that had happened, I didn’t care. I found texts from her and the friend she was supposedly out with talking about “finally seeing him” and “I can’t wait to fuck him”. It was heartbreaking. I packed a bag and left that night.

Fast forward 6 months later, I am in the best shape of my life. I have a new group of friends who I love and see every week. I am talking to a beautiful girl who makes me feel ways she never did.

Life gets better after heartbreak. Everything is okay, you will grow and learn from every moment.
