Yesterday, I met my ex to discuss a possible patch-up. She laid out a bunch of demands, and I couldn’t say no to any of them.
Before the breakup, we had been in a relationship for about 6 to 7 years. So me and my ex finally decided to meet yesterday to talk about getting back together. We sat and talked for hours. I didn’t try to get physical or show any sexual interest at all — just kept it pure conversation.
After a while she started asking a lot of questions and laying out exactly what she wants in a relationship and after marriage. I disagreed with most of it, but I couldn’t bring myself to say no to a single thing.
The thing is, she has a strong habit of creating drama, extreme jealousy, and overthinking everything. I felt like if I pushed back on even one point she would just walk away. So I ended up agreeing with almost everything just to keep the conversation going and not lose her again.
A lot of guys in my friend circle keep telling me the same thing:- You have to be her pet until marriage. Just wait it out, get married, have kids, and then you’ll have the upper hand.
I don’t know how I feel about that advice. Part of me thinks it’s messed up, but another part of me is scared she’ll leave if I’m honest about what I actually want.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How do you handle it when the person you still care about has all the control and you feel like you can’t disagree without risking everything?
