Will contacts not work when farsighted and astigmatism?

I went in for my optometrist appointment today and I was really excited about the prospect of getting contacts, but my optometrist told me that they would probably not work as well as my glasses because I am farsighted and have an astigmatism. She said that the prescription in my glasses is lower than my actual eyes (we lowered it last year) because it’s uncomfortable if she gives me the full thing.

I just want to know how other people with this type of prescription have done with contacts before I decide if I want to try them or not.
