Death to the Tyrant - Something I wrote on the fringes of my own sanity; disillusioned yet so human.
Today is one of those days
In my head there is no other way
But to suffer in silence and ponder away
There is something out there but it's not my day
-
Today is one of those days
I don't think I'll survive today
Thoughts of pain and sadness prevail
My bitter heart tells me this is it, there's no avail
To find happiness or even a bout of hope
Pointless, useless, devoid, and solemn
"Hand me the rope." she said, "Hand me the rope."
-
Today feels just like one of those days
When my father died and I blamed myself
I stood there silent and tears were made
More of guilt than loss or pain
-
Today feels like another one of those days
They tell me of love, hope, passion, and kindness -
strive for those so you may make a life
But I don't know if I've ever loved
Or known love but just been a stranger from above
And he took my dreams and broke my hope
That is why I keep asking for your rope
Passion faded when hope died
And they told me kindness is overrated,
You need to be ruthless to survive.
All around my head I see
Are broken dreams and haunted faces
Telling me to all the things I need to be
But in the end, I just wanted to be me
-
Today feels like the very last day
I wish I could, but I don't think my sun will rise.
