Song of the Week

The Larches - "Drought"

For tge song of the week, Drought is a raw and honest examination of addiction, exploring the cyclical pull of finding comfort in destructive places. The Larches are a northern English sludge band who bring something extra to the genre — psychedelic textures and dramatic shifts that set them apart from the typical slow-motion crush. Sludge metal takes doom's heavy, down-tuned weight and runs it through punk's aggression, creating something suffocating but impossible to look away from. Drought is the most experimental moment on their new EP Nihilistic Majesties, and easily one of the more intriguing releases this week. Give them a listen!
