Looking for recommendation for 20lb 8 month old

Hello, my baby us 8 months and just over 20lb, I currently have an older ergo 360 and wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to the ergobaby omni 360 (I can currently get on sale for $130cad). I do love the carrier, but he tends to chew on the strap and his cheeks get irritated from rubbing. The shoulder straps are mesh on the inside and like cotton ish on the outside. Or what other buckle carrier might be ideal as he is pretty heavy and tall already but not ready for a toddler carrier. I've also been looking at the happy baby original, as I would also be interested in something linen and good for heat. Not super into ring sling as it's very intimidating. Thank you in advance!
