I (22F) need help approaching my boyfriend (22M) with an issue
The title is a bit vague but it's the best way I can describe our situation.
So my boyfriend and I are long distance and have been together for almost a year now. It's really hard for us to see each other due to family situations and school/ work but we've been planning future trips to each other that may or may not pan out but are just nice to have as comfort.
Anyways, these past few weeks it's been feeling like he's pulling back a little bit. He's been struggling a lot at home and of course I would never get upset at him for any of that but every time I try to offer comfort and support he just tells me that I wouldn't understand or be able to help him. Stuff like that really hurts a lot because maybe I'm not going through the same situations, but I can still be empathetic and try and offer some knowledge and support.
Now, for the title part. Things have just been so odd. I've been noticing the lack of FaceTimes or regular calls but now it's spread to texts and reels slowing down. I know that's so annoying to even measure a relationship on but that's what we have since we can't spend time together in person. He's been sending me passive aggressive messages and demeaning the fact that I have a bachelors and am going to grad school and saying that that stuff isn't for "real people" but for "people who want to look better and make others feel like shit". He's been sending me reels just making fun of things I like and not responding to stuff I send him. He's been ignoring my texts and only talking about himself and just starting to become indifferent to me.
What made me want to come on here and post though was today. I struggle with my mental health but I am on medication and go to regular therapy for it and I've been doing really good but of course have my off days. Today was an off day and I just started crying from being overwhelmed and went to talk to him and he responded with "what now". From then on he started saying he's in my corner but my negativity is dragging me down and he just "doesn't know". I responded and said a lot but most importantly that I know he's in my corner and I'm there for him and I don't want to bring him down. Again he said "I just don't know" so I said to just put our phones down and call later and he said "maybe". Reading it back it just feels like me being so desperate on my end and just to leave him be and I hate that I'm realizing that as an afterthought.
Anyways, is there a good way to approach him with how I feel? How does it look from an outside perspective? If there are any questions please let me know in the comments because I'm typing this haphazardly and probably don't make any sense.
Thank you!
