AITA for basically kidnapping my in laws dog?

My in-laws are going away for 15 days and not getting adequate care for their dog, in my eyes. He would be left alone during weekdays from 6-5, fed and peed, and then left alone again until 11pm. Although today we are 80 percent sure she got home at 7 to feed him, which would’ve left him alone for 14 hours…. We had texted her earlier saying that we would be taking care of the dog today (Friday) as that is way too long to leave a dog. On top of that he is only allowed on the mainfloor of his home, and only allowed his own bed to sleep on, no couches or furniture, so he cant look of windows.

His parents are now pissed and telling us to give the dog back. I am just wondering if they would be okay being in a tiny room for 14 hours a day with no food or ability to relieve themselves ?

Idk fam should we give the dog back? Im not really feeling that bad.
